Police were surprised to find a young boy tied to a lamppost on St Saviours Road in North Evington.
The boy managed to flag down officers after being tied to the lamppost by his friends in a ‘prank’ on Sunday evening (26 July).
It is not clear how long the boy had been tied down using a bicycle lock, before being released.
Officers from the Hamilton, Humberstone, Northfields and Thurncourt beat team shared photographs from the scene, ensuring to hide the identity of the youth.
A message posted with the images said: “As they say, ‘every day’s different’ in policing. Well it certainly was this evening, when we were flagged down by this young lad who had been tied to the post by his ‘friends’ for a joke.
“The bolt croppers came to the rescue.”
