Woman found lying injured on dual carriageway in Leicestershire

A woman has been found lying on the A6 dual carriageway in Leicestershire with life threatening injuries.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident, which happened between Mountsorrel and Loughborough this morning (17 September), at around 10.45am.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a woman lying on the carriageway. She has been taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with life threatening injuries.

Two men, aged 19 and 18 who were in a van nearby, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Enquiries to establish the circumstances of how the woman sustained her injuries are ongoing.

The A6 remains closed in both directions between Granite Way, Mountsorrel and Quorn.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was travelling along the A6 between Mountsorrel and Loughborough in either direction this morning.”

“I would urgently like to speak to anyone who has a dashcam installed in their vehicle – or who saw the woman in the carriageway.”
