Armed Police and air ambulance called to stabbing in Leicestershire village

A teenager has been arrested after a man was stabbed in a park in Fleckney.

Armed Police were deployed to the park just off Edward Road at 5.50pm yesterday, where they found an 18-year-old with stab wounds.

Paramedics and air ambulance were also called to the scene and the victim was taken to Nottingham hospital by air.

The park was cordoned off by officers as a forensics team conducted an investigation of the scene.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “We received a call just before 5.50pm reporting that an 18-year-old man had been found in a park just off Edward Road with stab wounds.”

“The victim was taken by air ambulance to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.”

“Shortly after the incident, a 15-year-old was arrested in the area on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). He remains in police custody.”

Officers remain in the area identifying potential witnesses and reassuring the local community.
