Man in serious condition after stabbing in Highfields

A 20-year-old man was stabbed in the Highfields area of the city yesterday evening.

The victim was found on St Peter’s Road at around 5:45pm by a member of the public who called the Police.

The man was taken to hospital and his condition has been described as ‘serious but stable’.

Part of St Peter’s Road was closed while officers carried out their investigation. The road has since reopened.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Police were called at around 5.45pm today by a member of the public reporting a man with stab wounds in St Peter’s Road, Leicester.”

“Officers attended the scene with colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service. A man, 20, has been taken to hospital.”

“His condition is described as serious but stable.”

“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are in the initial stages.”

“Officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries and offer reassurance.”
