Snow falls across Leicester and Leicestershire

Snow is falling across Leicester and Leicestershire this morning.

Some areas of the city and county are seeing heavier falls than others, with snow settling on gardens, rooftops and vehicles.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice, saying this could cause disruption to roads and public transport.

The weather warning was issued yesterday, for between 6pm on Monday 28 December to 10am on Tuesday 29 December.

The Met Office has warned people to be careful from slipping and falling on untreated roads, pavements and icy surfaces.

Outlining the forecast, a spokesperson for the Met Office said: “A cold start with some frost or freezing fog patches slowly clearing. Showers through the morning, some of these perhaps turning wintry inland.”
