Pedestrian dies after collision with drug-driver in Leicester


A man has died following a collision which took place earlier this week in Leicester.

The collision happened on Parker Drive on Wednesday afternoon (2 September). The incident involved a blue Vauxhall Vivario van, which collided with a pedestrian before then colliding with two cars – a Renault Scenic and a BMW 3 Series.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with life-threatening injuries. He sadly died in hospital yesterday.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the time of the incident on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while under the influence of drugs and possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.

He has been released while officers continue their investigation.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hawkins said: “This is a tragic incident which has led to the death of a 40-year-old man and I would like to offer my deepest condolences to his family at this extremely sad time.”

“We continue to establish the full circumstances of this incident and our investigation remains very much ongoing.”
