Police break up party with 150 people in Leicester park

Leicestershire Police were called to a park to break up a large party over the weekend.

The event was being held at a park close to Butterwick Drive in Beaumont Leys on Saturday night (22 August).

Police were called to the scene by concerned residents. When they arrived, they found 150 people had gathered at the site, which included a DJ.

The large crowd was asked to disperse and go home, which they did peacefully.

In a tweet, Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police, Simon Cole said: “Thanks to @leicpolice colleagues who dispersed 150 partygoers from an event, with DJ, in Leicester overnight. We are still dealing with COVID as a city. Now is really not the time for such a gathering.”
