Leicester lockdown decision date brought forward

The decision on whether the localised lockdown in Leicester can be removed will now be made sooner.

The decision date has been brought forward to Thursday 30 July. It was originally planned to be made on Saturday 1 August.

No details have been provided by the government on why the date has been moved.

Residents in Leicester, Oadby and Wigston, where the lockdown remains in place, will be hoping the tighter restrictions will be lifted tomorrow.
