Man in serious condition after hit and run in Leicester

Police would like to trace the driver of a car after a man was seriously injured in a non-stop collision in Birstall.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon (8 September) in Greengate Lane.

Police were called just after 4pm to reports that a pedestrian was hit by a white Fiat 500 car.

The victim, believed be a man in his thirties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The car involved is reported to have driven away from the scene following the collision.

Police remained at the scene to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Detective Inspector Henry Henderson said: “Officers are at the scene carrying out enquiries.”

“This includes full enquiries to locate the person or people who were travelling in the Fiat car and we urge them to make contact with us immediately.”

“We are also appealing to anyone who has any information in relation to the collision or the vehicle and has not yet spoken to us to make contact.”
