Driver dies after crash in Leicester

A driver has died following a road traffic collision overnight in Leicester.

Police were called to Braunstone Lane East at 12.30am this morning (31 December), after reports of a single vehicle collision.

The car, a grey VW Polo, was travelling towards Narborough Road when it left the street. The driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It’s believed the car crashed into a fence after leaving the road.

The road is currently closed between its junctions with Narborough Road and Aylestone Road.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle beforehand to get in touch.

They are also keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage which may have captured anything related to the incident.
