Police name cyclist killed in Leicestershire crash

A cyclist who was involved in a fatal collision in Leicestershire has been named by Police.

Virgil Tanase, who was 31-years-old, sadly died of his injuries after he was involved in a collision with a van in Croft.

Emergency services were called to Thurlaston Lane on 2 August, at around 7.45pm.

The collision involved a blue Vauxhall Vivaro van and the cyclist. Officers said both were travelling from Croft towards Thurlaston when the incident happened.

Mr Tanase was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed nobody has been arrested, however detectives continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward with information.

Detective Constable Anna Thorpe said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision occur – or who saw either the van or cyclist prior to the collision occurring.”

“I am also asking anyone who was travelling along Thurlaston Lane – either to or from Croft – around the time of the collision and who has a dashcam installed in their vehicle to get in touch.”
