Cyclist dies after collision with van in Leicestershire

A cyclist has died after being involved in a collision with a van in Leicestershire.

The accident happened on Thurlaston Road in Croft at around 7.45pm on Sunday (2 August). The collision involved a blue Vauxhall Vivaro van and a cyclist, which were both travelling from Croft towards Thurlaston.

The cyclist, a man in his 30s, died at the scene.

Thurlaston Road was closed for several hours to allow officers to carry out enquiries and reopened in the early hours of yesterday morning. No-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.”

Detective Constable Anna Thorpe, the investigating officer, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision occur – or who saw either the van or cyclist prior to the collision occurring.”

“I am also asking anyone who was travelling along Thurcaston Lane – either to or from Croft – around the time of the collision and who has a dashcam installed in their vehicle.”

“Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, could help with our investigation.”
