Three more coronavirus deaths announced at Leicester Hospitals

Three more patients with coronavirus have died at hospitals across Leicester over the last week.

This takes the total number of deaths since the pandemic began to 446.

The Hospital Trust confirmed the age range of the three patients was between 60 and 80-years-old.

A spokesperson for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust said: “Sadly, we can confirm that 446 patients being cared for at our hospitals, and who had tested positive for COVID-19, have died.”

“Three of those deaths have been announced since last Wednesday (16 September). The ages of the patients ranged between those in their 60s to those in their 80s.”

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the patients at this very difficult and distressing time.” 

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Leicestershire has increased to 11,102 as at 23 September.

Out of these, 6,697 cases were recorded in the city of Leicester, with the remaining 4,405 cases in the wider county.
