Braunstone Gate cordoned off after teenager is stabbed

A teenager has been taken to hospital after another stabbing in Leicester’s Braunstone Gate.

The incident took place at around 10:30pm last night (August 27). The young man was stabbed in the back in the attack.

He was found lying on the pavement at the junction with Western Road. This is the second stabbing in the area within a week, after 22-year old Abubakar Abbas was fatally stabbed on Braunstone Gate on Sunday 23 August.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Officers are currently in the area of Braunstone Gate following a report of a stabbing shortly after 10.40pm. 

“A teenager has been taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment. Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.”

“Braunstone Gate is currently closed between Duns Lane and Western Road while police carry out inquiries at the scene.
